Very fine lustrous complex crystallized branching grouping of acanthite measuring 4.2 x 2.0 x 1.0 cm in size. Completely crystallized all around and free of damage; the quality is excellent for the species! Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Choice tabular lustrous creamy translucent crystals of apophyllite-(KF) to 1.8 cm in size are set nicely upon a 5.7 x 4.0 x 4.0 cm matrix of sparkling crystallized quartz. This is a very choice miniature specimen with a superb diamond shaped dark blue lustrous azurite crystal measuring 2.3 x 1.7 cm in size, about 0.3 cm in thickness, this set right up free-standing from a 3.7 x 3.7 x 2.6 cm matrix. There are other minor azurite crystals present. Very clean of damage and shows nicely all around 360 degrees. Choice for this classic locality! Ref: The Mineralogical Record: 12: 256-319.

The iron mines of Cumbria are well known to mineral collectors for their fine minerals. Long closed, these are now "classics" and highly sought after. The barite from this area are some of the finest examples known for the species. The example above, from the collection of Ernie Schlichter, consists of lustrous pale bluish-gray doubly terminated crystals of barite inter-grown with dolomite breccia chip matrix. The specimen measures 10.0 x 5.4 x 3.3 cm in size overall and is complete all around as seen in the lower photos. There are several old numbers, as well as the locality designation. A 12.0 x 8.0 x 5.0 cm matrix of brilliant lustrous crystallized galena, this hosting many fine translucent colorless thin bladed crystals of barite to 1.5 cm in size. Choice glassy single terminated prismatic partly gemmy brazilianite crystal measuring 3.0 x 2.1 x 1.7 cm in size. Minor crystalline albite is present at the base on one side. Beautiful glowing yellow transparent gemmy lustrous complex crystals of calcite to 5.7 cm in size are forming an aesthetic near matrix-less cluster. Complete all around. Very minor and light chipping is present on what I consider the back of the piece. The extent of this is visible in the photos. Overall I think this very clean of damage for one of these and an excellent piece. Size: 7.7 x 6.0 x 6.0 cm. Ex Lloyd Tate collection.

Choice lustrous deep red twinned crystals of cinnabar to 1.1 cm in size are set upon a 7.0 x 5.9 x 4.0 cm breccia matrix. The matrix is scattered with micro crystals of quartz and colorless dolomite. This mine in Nevada has produced the finest examples for creedite known from the United States. After Mexico and Kazakhstan, these rank as some of the world's better examples for the species. The specimen shown here consists of a 7.1 x 5.7 x 2.6 cm matrix, the top side richly scattered with lovely purple sparkling crsytal groupings of terminated transparent creedite crystals. The groupings measure to 1.0 cm across. The back of the matrix has been trimmed and shaped nicely with a diamond saw. No saw marks are visible when the specimen is displayed properly. No damage - the quality is excellent for the species at this locality! Ex Dawn and Jim Minette collection. The specimen was personally collected by Jim and Dawn; comes with a label showing that the specimen was in the 2002 special exhibit at the East Coast Gem and Mineral Show. Superb dark red damage-free octahedral crystals of cuprite to 0.9 cm in size are stacked aesthetically upon a 3.0 x 2.8 x 2.4 cm matrix. A very fine "toe-nail" or small miniature for this species. A superb single terminated gem quality crystal for this species! Sherry colored and transparent, there is only slight microscopic level chipping along one edge of the termination. Very pretty pink partly gemmy terminated lustrous elbaite double terminated crystal partly jacketed with white silky crystallized stilbite. The bottom termination is natural but not smooth like the top. Complete all around 360 degrees. Very light and minor chipping is present on the upper termination edges. A large glassy translucent striated bluish-green to green color zoned apatite-(CaF) crystal measuring 6.0 x 5.7 x 4.0 cm in size, this with lesser apatite-(CaF) crystals on the termination and mica coating the back side of the crystal. Slight chipping present at lower right on the crystal, otherwise perfect. Small arsenopyrite crystals are present upon the termination to the back of the piece. Very fine and unusual etched fluorite, classic from this locality. On the top side are "normal" deep purple cubic fluorite crystals. The "bottom" consists of naturally etched crystallized fluorite.
